If you’ve been here before (or know me well), I love a wedding on a family property! I’ve shot many in barns or on farms, cottages and even some small and intimate ones with only a handful of people in their backyard! I love the simplicity, but most of all I love the family connection- the reasons why they chose to get married at home, or where they grew up. It’s refreshing and for almost all my clients, it’s a TON of work! So many of my clients families sink time, money and all the blood, sweat and tears to prepare their houses and properties for the big day and I can’t imagine the stress levels.
Victoria was married on her parents property just outside of Port Perry and I think it was perfect for her and Ryan. I also photographed their engagement session at the same spot which allowed me to scope out some great backdrops in advance. The weather was insanely unpredictable on their wedding day, with a random rainstorm that came out of nowhere, but it passed quickly and these two were married with the lake as their backdrop.
