While living in the Dominican Republic, we rented a car so that we could explore the island a little more outside of the typical tourist spots. We did some research and found some interesting places in Santo Domingo, so we decided to head that direction and stay a couple days. We stayed in a gorgeous boutique hotel, Hostal Nicolas de Ovando – MGallery Collection, located right next to the river and within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. The Spanish-style architecture made it especially fun for us, and we wished we had a couple to photograph while there!
After our time spent there, we made sure to show Lorraine + Jason some photos of our discoveries and some new locations that would make for a great shoot – other than Lorraine wanting to jump into water for her Trash the Dress (that took a lot of careful research and location scouting to find), she was open to our ideas and loved what we showed her of the old fort. It was a few hours drive to get there, but these two were game and we had a blast hanging out! We actually ended up having a two-part trash the dress, because we couldn’t fit all into one day. We stayed in Santo Domingo right until dark shooting at the fort, and some other nearby locations. A day or two later, we picked them up again to head to some top secret locations so that Lorraine + Jason could truly Trash the Dress! It was tons of fun and we enjoyed getting to know these two wonderful souls.
