Weddings don’t always have to be big and expensive to be important – sometimes, it’s all about family and having those nearest and dearest be there to share in a moment of joy. I was asked to photograph Ashley + Mark’s small civil ceremony in Whitby last winter, just before they headed off for a symbolic wedding on the beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We had a very cold day for it, but with a quick first look and photos outside, we made sure they were warmed up before their church vows.
